C-ducer Tape Microphone

C-ducer systems all use our famous Tape microphone.  It is available in 2 lengths:

3” (8cm) for violin, viola and smaller stringed instruments (such as banjo, ukulele, mandolin and folk harp (2 required)), and also for use on some drums (bongos, smaller toms).

8” (15cm) for guitar, double bass and larger stringed instruments, concert harp and piano (2 required), and drums.

Please see the appropriate section under the Instruments menu for your particular requirement.

The C-ducer Preamp

Because of its unique, patented design, the C-ducer needs has an integral preamplifier which is available in two different ranges: The Gigster series, and the Professional range.

The Gigster

The Gigster preamp is battery-powered, with many years of use from its integral battery.  The preamplifier is built into the 1/4” output jack, which is unbalanced and line level.  The output from the Gigster is compatible with stage amps or the ‘line’ input to mixing desks or Direct Inject (DI) boxes.

The B1000/8 Gigster with one 8” (15cm) Tape is suitable for acoustic guitar and the other instruments listed above.  The B1000/3 comprises one Gigster preamp with one 3” (8cm) Tape for use with violin and the other smaller instruments listed above.

The B2000/8 is one Gigster preamp with 2 x 8” (20cm) Tapes, typically used on piano and concert harp, where only a mono output is required and balanced line output is also not needed.  Similarly, the B2000/3 is one Gigster preamp with two 3” (8cm) Tapes for use with a pair of bongos, smaller acoustic keyboard instruments, and smaller harps.

The CQ Professional Range

The CQ preamp is 48 volt phantom-powered, with line-level balanced output. The preamplifier is built into the XLR plug which then connects to either one or two C-ducer Tape microphones.  The output from the CQ range is compatible with stage or studio mixing desks and any other equipment with 600 ohm balanced inputs and phantom power.

The CQS/8 comprises two CQ preamp/ 8” (20cm) Tape combinations typically used on piano when a stereo signal is desired.  It can also be used where two different instruments are to be miced, such as a pair of congas.

The CQS/8p is identical to the CQS/8 but with inline connectors so that the C-ducer mic can be left on the instrument but the main bulk of the cable disconnected.

The CQ2/8 is one CQ preamp with 2 x 8” (20cm) Tapes, typically used on piano, where balanced line output and phantom power are needed but only a mono output is required.

The CQM/8 is one CQ preamp with one 8” (20cm) Tape for use with guitar, double bass and and many other instruments listed above. (See our Instruments pages for more details).

Similarly the CQM/3 is one CQ preamp with one 3” (8cm) Tape for use with violin and the other smaller instruments listed above.
